November Book Haul

Books. BOOKS. BOOOKSSS.

There’s just soooo many I want and soooo many to buy. Unfortunately, that also means I require tons of money, which I sadly don’t have.

But, I just had to get a couple of books at least so this month I bought 11. That’s an achievement, trust me, I limited myself and held back on my urges.

As to not bore you I’ll keep the description of the books short (the first book in series may only be described) but reviews will slowly follow. And I mean slowly… (blame college).

Note: some prices may differ due to sales etc.

The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater

This set was the first set of books I purchased at only £8 from The Works; a UK based retailer, however they have got an online store. (Link at the end of the page)

This trilogy is essentially about Wolves (duh!) and explores the love between Sam and Grace. Sam isn’t a normal boy – as the cold surfaces, his transformation leads him among a pack of wolves. Shiver (the first story) counts down on what could in actual fact be Sam and Graces’ only summer together.

Note: a fourth stand-alone sequel has been released.

Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

After reading The Rest of Us Just Live Here and absolutely loving the book entirely, I had to purchase other books from Patrick Ness. From reading one book by him, I can say that his writing is enticing and captivating. The Rest of Us Just Live Here explored real issues and struggles, which I was able to relate to my own life.

The Chaos Walking trilogy is set in a dystopian world where creatures can hear each other’s thoughts in images, words and sounds called Noise. The first story, The Knife of Never Letting Go, begins with Todd being forced to flee his own country due to discovering a patch of silence.

Bought for £6.99 from The Book People (link at the end of the page).

Legend series by Marie Lu

The Legend series in short words is set in the Republic, a nation at war with its neighbours. Born into an elite family is June and born into the slums is Day. Their paths are crossed when June’s brother, Metias is murdered and Day is the prime suspect. In a turn of events the two uncover what really brought them together and the lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Bought for £4.99 from The Book People.

The Bane Chronicles

The Bane Chronicles is a series of novellas highlighting Magnus Bane from The Mortal Instruments. The short stories are co-written by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson, and Sarah Rees Brennan.

Bought for £4.99 (hardback) from The Book People.

Looking for Alaska by John Green

John Green’s first novel tells the story of Miles “Pudge” Halter who heads off to Culver Creek Boarding School, and Alaska Young who steals his heart.

After, nothing is the same.

Bought for £3.99 from The Book People.

‘The Rest of Us Just Live Here’ by Patrick Ness REVIEW + author event

the rest of us just live here

This book focuses on the ones ‘not chosen’ which intrigued me to pick this book up upon release. The tag line ‘not everyone has to be the chosen one’ automatically gripped my attention and I cannot be happier that I gave this book a chance.

Never before had I read a Patrick Ness book; ‘The Rest of Us Just Live Here’ was my first and certainly won’t be my last. This book made me want to stop every five seconds just to write a quote down that I really liked and proved very inspirational.

The book was such a good read; I have no words to describe how utterly amazing it was to read.

The fact that I also attended the author event for this book and got my book signed by Patrick Ness, made me all the more excited to read the book. It was an absolute joy to meet such an honest, funny and lovable author. For my first author event, it was absolutely brilliant!

The next book I will most likely be picking up from Patrick Ness is ‘More Than This’…
