Fairy Tale

They’re just that: a little fairy tale,

In real life not every prince pays the bail,

And not every paper tells the truth,

Wrapped up; a restricted lie in every mind of youth.

I get it. Snow white,

She’s white as snow but did that make her bright?

Oh I forgot – hair as black as night,

So she wasn’t a “dumb blonde” instead a flawless sight.

Oh but Cinderella is perfect,

However harboured by neglect,

Saved by a prince, time the picture connects –

Eventually surrounded by loyal subjects.

The miller’s daughter, no she wasn’t known for being a gold digger,

Because she was better than that, brighter and bigger,

That man, he possessed a raw talent to spin,

Had you even the slightest clue, the name Rumpelstiltskin?

She was always there, in each and every book,

She didn’t own the crown but that she took,

But then again in real life not every Queen is evil,

And not every unjustified is illegal.

Naturally, he’s got the job description of a dragon slayer,

But it’s factual, his goal in actual; football player.

We’re living in a parallel world ‘distorted’,

Most surviving, unsupported.

It’s not just fairy tales, is it?

Shakespeare, he had quite the wit,

Then he wrote Macbeth,

But how is it right that they all fought to their own death?

They’re just that: a little fairy tale,

In real life not every princess is frail,

And not every paper feels that ruth,

Wrapped up; a restricted lie in every mind of youth.
